While the States has New York, London is the European capital of musicals. In addition to the dozens of shows it offers each year, there are a number of things for musical fans to see and do!
1. Book a ticket for a musical
To book tickets for a musical or show in London you just need to visit the website London Musicals. With good advice and transparent ticket prices (which is rare), it's probably the best site for online bookings.
2. The Theatre Cafe
The Theatre Cafe is a cafe like no other. As well as offering drinks and cakes, this place is completely decorated with musical theatre posters. Dedicated posters, merch, glasses, original accessories, and music... this place is almost like a mini museum! To top it all off, musical stars often give small private concerts here.
3. Visit the Royal Drury Lane Theatre
The Royal Dury Lane Theatre is the oldest theatre still operating in London. You can visit it via an interactive tour. The current building is the latest in a series of four successive theatres rebuilt on the same spot since 1663.
4. Kryolan UK in Covent Garden
Created in 1876, Kryolan UK is a makeup shop for those working in cinema, theatre, television and fashion. This very modern shop lets you see professional wigs and prosthetics.
5. Walk around the theatre
What's better than walking among the crowds to explore the facades of West End theatres? Made up of streets in and around Soho, the theatres district is one of the nicest parts of the British capital, full of squares, cafes, shops and restaurants.
6. Visit Shakespeare’s Globe
The Globe Theatre, built in 1996, is an almost perfect replica of the theatre where some of William Shakespeare's plays were performed. The original theatre burnt down in 1613, but you can visit the replica to see performances or just to see it. To go or not to go? That is the question.
