What's Jesus Christ Superstar about?
The rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar tells the story of Jesus' final days through the eyes of Judas. As tensions mount among the disciples, Judas finds himself torn by doubt and ultimately sets in motion a series of events that will change history.
Why should you see Jesus Christ Superstar?
The musical adventure Jesus Christ Superstar started in the form of a 1970 concept album before becoming a stage work in 1971 in New York and 1972 in London. Since then, the show has only seen one revival in 1996.
The show's music is by Andrew Lloyd Webber and the lyrics are by Tim Rice, a duo behind a number of British hits such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Evita. Jesus Christ Superstar was such a hit with the public that it held the record of longest running musical in the British capital until 1989.
With its bold rock-infused score and emotionally charged story, this musical is still one of the most influential productions of all time. This revival is a unique opportunity to discover this show in London. It's not to be missed!
