Evita is one of the world's most iconic musicals. Created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice - the duo behind Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - it chronicles the meteoric rise of Eva Perón, a fascinating and controversial figure in Argentine history.
Born into humble circumstances, Eva dreams of an extraordinary destiny. She leaves her hometown for Buenos Aires, where she becomes a model, actress, and radio personality. Her charisma and ambition lead her to meet Colonel Juan Perón. When he becomes president, Eva becomes First Lady of Argentina.
Evita is a rock opera masterpiece with Argentine influences, driven by unforgettable melodies such as Don't Cry for Me, Argentina. Initially released as an album in 1976, the show premiered on stage in London in 1978, winning several Olivier Awards before conquering Broadway and the rest of the world.
The musical's enduring success is evident in its international productions in Madrid, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Japan and Denmark, its starring roles played by Madonna and Antonio Banderas in the blockbuster film adaptation, and its songs being frequently covered and becoming global hits.
While the plot is inspired by Mary Main's biography, which has been criticised for its lack of objectivity, Lloyd Webber and Rice have consistently defended their dramatic and fictionalised interpretation of the character. This element of controversy has only served to fuel the legend surrounding the musical.
After making West End history with thousands of performances, Evita returns to London in a bold production directed by Jamie Lloyd. This is a must-see opportunity to rediscover this cult classic.

Ticket prices are set by venues and productions. Even though the majority of musicals are suitable for children, there is no preferential child ticket.
