The musical is a stage adaption of the iconic 1939 film with Judy Garland in the starring role.
When a tornado carries young Dorothy to the world of Oz, nothing is as it was before. The young girl meets the Good Witch of the North, who points out the road to Emerald City where the wizard resides. Only he can take Dorothy home. Along the way, she crosses paths with a scarecrow, a tin man and a lion. All four of them want the Wizard to make their deepest desires come true.

Harburg (lyrics) as well as new songs written for the occasion by Andrew Lloyd Webber (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics). The book was co-written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jeremy Sams. This new production, initially performed in Leicester's Curve Theatre, was directed by Nikolai Foster.
The film this musical is based on is loved by both critics and the public. It won three Oscars, including best song for Somewhere Over The Rainbow, performed by Judy Garland. The film is based on the eponymous novel by L. Frank Baum, published in 1900 and one of the great classics in English literature.
