Why should you see Starlight Express?

Created in London in 1984, Starlight Express is the ninth longest running show in the British capital with more than 7400 performances. The musical also received two Olivier Award nominations and seven Tony Award nominations.

To create Starlight Express, Andrew Lloyd Webber worked with Trevor Nunn (director) and Richard Stilgoe (lyrics), who was involved with Cats in 1981. Trevor Nunn had the genius idea to make Starlight Express a unique musical: the actors will be on roller skates to perfectly show the speed of the trains, the show's main characters. The collaboration between Lloyd Webber and Stilgoe will continue until 1986 with the musical The Phantom of the Opera.

Nearly 20 million people around the world have seen Starlight Express. The show was performed all over the world (UK, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Germany) bringing in nearly $1.2 billion in revenue. In Germany, Starlight Express has been performed continually in Bochum since 1988, in a theatre especially designed for the musical.

From the completely crazy original idea and with unique staging, Starlight Express has become a cult musical which is not to be missed!

Every venue has been renovated recently with evey seat giving you a good view of the stage. However, the further you are from the stage, the further you are from the magic. The seats marked by a half-coloured circle indicate less good visibility (these seats are often at the back and so you can't see the whole set). We recommend avoiding them when selecting your seats.
