What's Back to the Future about?

Synchronise your watches, because the duo of Marty McFly and Doc Brown are coming to London!

Back to the Future is the musical adaptation of the 1985 film phenomenon. Marty McFly is a typical rock teenager from the 80s. However, he finds himself transported to 1955 because of the DeLorean transformed into a time machine by his friend Dr Emmett Brown. To return to the 80s safe and sound and to ensure his survival, he will have to make sure that his parents fall in love in 1955...

Why should you see Back to the Future?

When it had its world premiere in March 2020 at Manchester Opera House, the musical Back to the Future wowed audiences and critics alike. The audience described being fascinated and very impressed by what was happening on stage. Some people even said that the final scene alone justified the price of the ticket. Professional critics called the show "a must see" or "an exhilarating musical adventure".

Back to the Future is the first film in a trilogy that was a huge success in cinemas, ranking first at the American box office and fourth at the French box office in 1985. Its adaptation into a musical was therefore a guaranteed success... but the result is beyond all hope!

The musical's score is based on the film's original soundtrack, re-orchestrated by Glen Ballard (Ghost) and Alan Silvestri, the original composer. The songs have been boosted and some have been added to them. The book is by Bob Gale, screenwriter of the original trilogy. John Rando (Urinetown, On The Town) was commissioned to direct the show. The set and lighting effects are among the most impressive that London has seen in recent years.

So if your flux capacitor is already vibrating, don't wait and book your seats now to see the Back to the Future musical in London.

The show was absolutely amazing! We enjoyed every minute of it. We enjoyed the light effects. the cast was professional and compassion in their acting skills. I would recommend this show to all. Also the staff in the theater were very friendly. The experience was a 10. We were a bit weary when we first purchased the tickets but quickly changed our minds when the show started. Without a doubt we totally recommend.

This show is truly amazing for adults and kids. My kids were invested in it the whole time, and even asked to watch it again. It's very uplifting and the actors do a tremendous job keep the audience hooked. It's funny, emotional, and smart all at the same time. Definitely recommend watching it. Bravo!

An incredible evening! A very, very nice surprise. Everything was perfect: the special effects, choreography, performances by actors and dancers, the atmosphere in the room! The show starts right on time, and we were grateful for the well timed interval and well organised bar which meant there was no waiting. We loved our evening and highly recommend this musical.

A great musical. Slightly disappointing casting of the girlfriend and the music isn’t full of hits which slightly affects the atmosphere. Very good staging and an exceptional cast of the actors carried by a very good script which is full of humour. Very funny and amazing special effects. The dances are also a little conventional.
